The World Illustration Awards 2023

Overview

The World Illustration Awards 2023 present outstanding work produced by illustrators from around the globe today. WIA connects illustrators to their peers and the industry, focusing on fostering and celebrating creativity. Numerous advantages, including increased visibility, chances to market yourself, and networking opportunities, come with being a member of WIA. Additionally, WIA provides a platform for many illustrators to find new customers and commissions.

Eligibility

Any type of illustration or project utilizing illustration may be submitted to WIA2023. This includes still images, animated gifs, and animations.
At this time, entries produced using AI text-to-image generating software or platforms are not permitted to be submitted to WIA.
Work can be produced by illustrators based anywhere, whether it is self-initiated or commissioned. The illustration must only have been produced, commissioned, or published after January 2022.

Illustrators (including duos and collectives), commissioners, agents, and tutors are invited to submit illustrations created since January 1, 2022 to the World Illustration Awards 2022.
• There is no limit to the style or format of the illustrations that you can enter, but you do need to select one of the 10 categories for each of your entries.
• You can enter as many projects as you like!
• The competition is open to illustrators over 18 years old.
• Current students and recent graduates are welcome to enter, as well as those without formal training.

Every entry is reviewed by an independent judge, who will use the following criteria to look for great illustrations that are:
• Technically excellent
• Communicates its Idea or message brilliantly
• Explores illustration as an art form

Think about illustrations that really sing when choosing what to submit, keeping in mind these judging criteria, and work with the spark that makes it pop off the page or screen.
It might have stemmed from a personal interest, presented a technical challenge, or been one of those unforeseen commissions that just works.
There is no right or wrong; the majority of illustrators will work on at least one project that gets them to sit up and realize that’s what they want their work to accomplish. Those are typically the projects to enter.
